Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital is verified as a Level II trauma center and has been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in the fields of orthopedics, neurosciences (Stroke Center of Excellence), women’s health, heart and vascular, and cancer care. Clinical staff here have the opportunity to participate in training for residents from Wayne State’s University School of Medicine.

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Under close supervision, following mandated food handling techniques, sanitary requirements, and safety requirements, provides appetizing meals and other related food services to patients, hospital employees, guests, cafeteria patrons and other authorized visitors.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. 

Education / Training:  

  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple math; also understand oral instructions and be able to communicate job related problems, required.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Food service and/or hospitality experience, preferred.

Other Qualifications: 

  • Position requires incumbent to frequently concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption and occasionally concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption.
  • Depending on daily requirements, position requires ability to frequently attend to a task or function for less than 10 minutes to 60 minutes at a time.
  • Position requires ability to constantly understand and relate to specific ideas generally several at a time, frequently be able to understand and relate to concepts behind several ideas and occasionally understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts.
  • Position requires ability to constantly be able to remember multiple task/assignments given.

  • Cash handling
  • Food preparation
  • Serve food.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
